Amazon only receives personal information that panelists explicitly choose to share via the Shopper Panel,
such as the information from survey responses, uploaded receipt images, the information extracted from those
receipts (including product or retailer names), or ads seen from Amazon’s own advertising or third-party
businesses that advertise through Amazon Ads. Amazon will delete any information we can determine to be sensitive
information, such as prescription information from pharmacy receipts. If you enable ad verification, Amazon will
receive an advertising identifier and IP address to confirm information about where and when you see ads from Amazon,
for example the app or website where you viewed the ad and the time of day you viewed it. For more information about
how Amazon processes information about the ads you see from Amazon, go here.
Amazon also receives information about your use of the app, such as usage logs, your device type, operating system version,
and network connectivity. If you decide to participate in the Amazon Shopper Panel, you will be asked to sign in using your
Amazon account and complete an optional demographic survey with questions about your gender, age range, and income range.
Amazon will process this information, as well as the country your device is set to and your related account data
(e.g., your email address, country of residence) as part of the registration process. We also use operational cookies
and similar tools (collectively, "cookies") to provide services to you, including authenticating you, preserving your settings,
and delivering content. Operational cookies can't be deactivated to the extent we use them to provide you our services. To learn
more about how Amazon uses cookies, please read the Amazon Cookies Notice.
We will always handle your personal information in accordance with Amazon's Privacy Notice.
We will use the personal information you share with us through the program to help brands offer better products and make Amazon ads more relevant in accordance with Amazon's Privacy Notice. The personal information you share with us through the program may be combined with your other data from Amazon sites and services in order to create aggregate metrics. These purposes may include:
The Amazon Shopper Panel is designed to get faster and more accurate at reviewing receipts over time. The program relies in part on supervised machine learning, an industry-standard practice where humans review a small sample of submissions to help train our systems to correctly review receipt contents and eligibility. For example, a human reviewing a receipt can surface that the Amazon Shopper Panel misinterpreted a receipt for orange juice as a receipt for oranges. During our supervised learning process, Amazon reviewers only have access to the contents of receipts and do not have access to any other customer information. We will not share any personal information collected via the Amazon Shopper Panel with third parties.
Extracted receipt data, survey responses, and receipt images are retained for up to 13 months. You can view your receipt images for at least 12 months. We keep other information, such as your rewards history, to enable your continued use of the Amazon Shopper Panel for as long as you are using the app.
Where applicable data protection law requires a legal basis to collect and use personal information, Amazon does so on the basis of your consent, which you are asked to affirmatively indicate when you register on the Amazon Shopper Panel app, and which you may withdraw at any time by selecting “Delete your data and opt out” in the app. If you make this selection, your personal information associated with your participation in Amazon Shopper Panel will be deleted.
For more details including about which specific Amazon entities are data controllers of the information you share on Amazon Shopper Panel, your rights, and how you can contact us with any questions, requests or concerns in relation to your personal information, please refer to Amazon's Privacy Notice.
